Customer Reviews

What customers say about our leather restoration & conditioning

“Our leather sofa had dried out and started cracking near the armrests after years of use. Kleen & Fresh cleaned and conditioned it and it looks and feels completely different now — much softer.”

Michael B.
Leighton Buzzard

“Had an ink stain on a leather armchair that I thought was permanent. They got it out completely and the leather still looks and feels great months later. Couldn’t recommend anyone else over Kleen & Fresh.”

Sophie A.
Milton Keynes

“Really impressed with the colour match service — a section of our leather sofa had faded unevenly and you genuinely can’t tell where the work was done. Kleen & Fresh are professionals who know what they’re doing.”

Our Method

Leather conditioning done right

Different leather types need different approaches — cleaning and conditioning it wrong, and you risk drying it out or damaging the finish. Our two-part method has been built from 15 years of trial and error.

Identify leather type

We start by identifying your leather type — whether pigmented leather, which is generally easier to restore, or aniline leather, which is closer to natural hide and requires more careful handling.

Brush & Foam Clean

We deeply clean the leather sofa to lift deep grease and marks. Our brush and foam method removes blemishes such as ink marks and water stains to restore it.

Conditioning & Protection

Our leather conditioner restores the oils to your leather and adds a protective layer. This softens the leather, prevents cracking and protects it from scratches.

Colour Match (optional)

If required, we use specialist colour dyes to match discoloured areas of the leather to the rest of the furniture to ensure it looks its best.

Why Method Matters

The Kleen & Fresh leather conditioning method

Leather conditioning isn’t a one size fits all, each leather requires different conditioning methods.

Full-grain leather is absorbent, so regular conditioning with natural creams, balms and oils is beneficial for soft leather.

Pigmented leather isn’t absorbent due to its polymer coating, meaning oily conditioners won’t get absorbed. Light conditioners is the solution here.

Our leather conditioning is built around the type of leather you have. Each product is designed to moisturise and protect your leather furniture.

FAQs

Leather conditioning questions answered

Still unsure? Call Phil or Louise directly — we’re always happy to help.

Leather conditioning puts moisture and natural oils back into leather. Over time, leather loses these oils through everyday use, heat and sunlight.

Conditioning keeps leather soft, helping prevent cracking and fading.

Leather that isn’t conditioned gradually dries out. It can become stiff and rough, lose its colour and shine, and eventually crack.

No. Conditioning helps prevent cracks from forming and can soften leather that has become stiff. It can’t repair cracks that are already there. Existing cracks usually need filling and recolouring as part of leather restoration.

Household oils like olive oil and coconut oil aren’t recommended for leather furniture. They can darken the leather, leave a greasy residue that attracts dirt, and may go rancid over time.
